Artraveljournals Home Approach Facilitator Destinations Pacific Northwest Participant Comments My Sketchbook

In this book I give six tips or shortcuts to help anyone launch into the wonderful world of sketching. My participants illustrate these tips with their amazing pages, sharing their experiences and feelings while traveling in new cultures and surroundings. This book could never have been put together without their generous contributions and encouragement.

"Most of the participants who illustrated my approach had no drawing or painting skills prior to the workshop. Many times I have heard participants say, 'Had I learned how to draw or paint, I would never have dared to draw or paint' ", or "Until to-day, I had no idea that I could create such a page!"

Sketching is not about doing "good" drawings or painting. It is about letting the hand record what the eye sees with whatever tool is available, without rules or recipes.

"This book is a humble statement, with no pretensions, written from my heart. Whenever I had doubt  or felt overwhelmed, my participants' enthusiasm and spontaneity reminded me to apply my sketching approach to my writing. My only goal is to share my passion and, hopefully, inspire more people to travel with a sketchbook."
